How we test juicers
Choosing a juicer can be more complicated than expected given the profusion of devices available on the market. You can choose a manual model that will use your arm strength to extract the juice from the fruit, or an electric device that requires less energy on your part.
In our tests, we first evaluated the ease of use of each device by squeezing different citrus fruits with it. We checked to see if different accessories were provided, and used each to judge their usefulness. Finally, we evaluated the performance, power and ease of maintenance of each model.

Princess Champion 201852: the best citrus press (quality/price ratio)
This original Princess Champion model caught our attention for its performance, especially with orange-sized citrus fruits. Its pour spout fitted with a drip stop and its non-slip foot make it a utensil which will brighten up your work surface without getting it dirty. Even if it takes up a little space, its large capacity is interesting. Its dishwasher-safe parts and low noise make it an excellent appliance for everyday use.

This stainless steel model offers excellent strength thanks to its articulated arm. A large sieve, a cone that adapts to all citrus fruits and a capacity of 0.75L give this juicer the power necessary to squeeze fruits without exerting excessive pressure. The only downside that we found is that it switches off a little quickly to avoid overheating: we therefore cannot use it for too long at a time.

The key criteria for choosing your citrus press
According to our product experts, here are the key criteria to consider when choosing your juicer.
1 – The guy
- Manual models are the most economical and do not require a power supply.
- Electric models are easy to use: some start when they detect the pressure of the fruit on the cone, others have an articulated handle which allows the fruit to be held in place when extracting the juice.
2 – Engine power
- Of course, this only concerns electric juicers. The motor power you need depends on how you will use your device. The more juice you want to squeeze, the more power you will need. In all cases, we recommend a power of at least 60 W.
- Good to know: the power of the motor determines the quantity of juice that will be extracted from the pulp (the more powerful the motor, the drier the pulp will be).

3 – The pulp regulator
- A citrus press with a good sieve is preferred if you like to drink your juice without pulp.
- In addition, a powerful appliance that does not retain the pulp well could give a bitter aftertaste to your juice because of the mixture of pulp and seeds.
4 – The size of the juice collector
- Select a juicer whose juice collector size matches your needs.
- If many of you consume fresh fruit juice, opt for a family appliance with a collector which will allow you to not have to empty it too often.
5 – The size and quality of the pouring spout
- Most citrus juicers are equipped with a pour spout with a drip stop for a clean pressing session of your citrus fruits: this system consists of bending the pour spout to prevent the juice from dripping.
- The size of the spout is also important: the larger it is, the less likely the juice will spill onto your work surface.
