The TV series explodes board game sales!

🚨 Out of stock for the Fallout role-playing game from Modiphius! The hit TV series is causing a rush for board game adaptations.

Fallout: A dazzling success for Modiphius

Have you seen or finished the Fallout series? I do. And I loved it! We also told you about it when it came out a few days ago. The Fallout TV series, broadcast on Amazon Prime, not only attracted 65 million people in just over two weeks, but it also had a resounding impact on the world of board games and role-playing games.

Modiphius, the British publisher well-known to role-playing gamers, saw sales of its Fallout-related products more than double month over month. Thing. Crazy ! The popularity of the Amazon series has clearly spilled over into the gaming world, and Modiphius is reaping the rewards.

Their spokesperson told the American site BoardGameWire that they had noticed a particular enthusiasm for the Fallout: Wasteland Warfare miniature games and the Fallout role-playing games. Players literally snapped up these products! Stocks of core role-playing game books evaporated even before the series premiered, much faster than expected. Modiphius is working to restock, but in the meantime, you can still pre-order them. This shows how strong the demand is! And the same for the VF, published by Arkhane Asylum Publishing, it has also been out of print for several days. And that’s a shame, but it’s no surprise, because the role-playing is really, really excellent!

The future looks radiant / radiant

And that’s not all ! At the recent Salute 51 show, the largest independent wargaming event in Europe, visitors flocked to the Modiphius stand to discover their upcoming skirmish game Fallout Factions: Nuka World and miniatures from the TV series. The stocks of the latter literally vanished within an hour and a half after the doors opened. Can you imagine the excitement?

Modiphius also noted a “massive spike” in traffic to its website for Fallout Factions, which is currently up for pre-order. There is no doubt that this game will be a hit when it is released later this year. If this is a game that appeals to you, you better get ready, because the competition may be tough to get your hands on it!

The Fallout effect is spreading

But the impact of the Fallout TV series doesn’t stop there. Asmodee subsidiary Fantasy Flight Games was also approached to see if it had seen a similar increase in sales for its Fallout board game. Although no answers have been given yet, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Fallout effect ripples through the entire gaming industry.

Besides, did you know that sales of Fallout video games exploded following the debut of the TV series? Fallout 4, released in 2015, reached first place in Europe with an increase of more than 7,500% in sales in one week. Crazy. So, yes, a series (well done) to really boost sales of adapted derivative products!

Dive into the Fallout universe

If you too, like me, have caught… “Fallout Fever”, don’t hesitate any longer! Immerse yourself in this exciting post-apocalyptic universe through figurine games, role-playing games and board games offered by Modiphius and other publishers. Experience thrilling adventures alongside Lucy, Maximus and the charismatic ghoul cowboy played by Walton Goggins.

Furthermore, the Fallout television series, although inspired by the video games of the same name, tells a different type of story that lends itself more to a (tabletop) role-playing game adaptation. Unlike the Fallout video games, which focus on a lone main character exploring the post-apocalyptic world, the TV series features a disparate group of characters from varied backgrounds who unite against their will in an unlikely quest.

However, the series takes the liberty of broadening the types of protagonists beyond the “simple” shelter dweller, by including for example a squire from the Brotherhood of Steel and an actor who became a gunslinger. This approach allows for more diverse stories to be explored from the perspective of the inhabitants of the Fallout universe.

Frankly, this narrative approach to the TV series lends itself ideally to a role-playing experience, where players can embody this variety of colorful characters. Fallout 111, this official adaptation of Fallout as a role-playing game, using the 2d20 system, allows precisely this type of experience and this creative freedom in the game universe.

Whether you’re a long-time fan or a newcomer to the Fallout universe, there’s sure to be a game for you. The possibilities are endless, and with the current craze, you will undoubtedly find a community of passionate gamers ready to share this unique experience.

And who knows what the future holds? Perhaps we’ll soon see an adventure or sourcebook for the role-playing game, allowing us to follow in the TV series’ footsteps through the West Coast wastelands, the fallout shelters, New Vegas and beyond . In the meantime, nothing is stopping you from integrating the emblematic characters of the series into your games now. Imagine playing the charismatic Kyle McLaughlin dressed in his blue jumpsuit!

The resounding success of the Fallout series doesn’t just benefit Modiphius. Wizards of the Coast, the publisher of Magic: The Gathering, is also riding this wave with its recent Commander Universes Beyond Fallout set. This product, featuring four pre-constructed 100-card decks, sold better than any other Commander product. The iconic Fallout characters, locations, and items depicted on these maps have attracted fans in droves, aided by the runaway success of the TV series.

And that’s just the beginning ! Amazon has already ordered a second season, although a release date has not yet been announced. We can bet that this new season will bring its share of surprises and revelations, and who knows, maybe even exciting new games to discover.

The Fallout phenomenon is only just beginning, and it promises to have a lasting impact on the gaming industry. The future is looking forward irradiated rad for Fallout fans, and we will be sure to keep you informed of the latest news and upcoming releases. So, are you ready to dive into the wasteland? The adventure has only just begun!

In the meantime, don’t hesitate to share with us your gaming experiences in the Fallout universe. What are your favorite moments? Which characters left an impression on you? And above all, what are your expectations for future games inspired by this cult franchise? We look forward to reading your comments and sharing this all-consuming passion for Fallout with you.
